A commercial agreement recently occured between Meetic and Match.
An official release published on Boursorama talks about the “Conclusion of an agreement on the acquisition of MATCH.COM EUROPE”.
The conclusion of this agreement would enable MEETIC to expand its presence in European markets. At the end of December 2008, Match had a total of approximately 270 000 subscribers in Europe.
In this document, Marc Simoncini, CEO of Meetic, declares : « We have today signed a historic agreement for the acquisition of European operations at Match.com. »
But can we really talk about an acquisition ?
Not really …
The agreement is rather correspondint to an exchange of shares.
Although Meetic acquires all European activities of the american company, Match will own 27% of Meetic’s stakes after the agreement . This opens the possibility for Match to buy Meetic in the next years.
Is Simoncini thinking about selling Meetic ?
